As a Small Animal Assistant, you’ll help clean the cages of our “littles,” including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and ferrets, as well as birds. This position requires physical activity, including light lifting, stooping, and bending. Small Animal staff and experienced volunteers will provide on-the-job training about our handling and cleaning procedures.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of every organization. Whether from your keyboard at home, hands on with the animals, cleaning, feeding, transporting. We need your help!

Responsibilities may include: Ushering​, Driving actors, Gardening, Hanging posters, Cooking meals, and Providing administrative support

Set tables at the Older Adult Kosher Hot Meal Program, deliver meals to homebound seniors, make calls on Super Sunday, assist with community mailings, visit homebound seniors and residents of senior living facilities, bake, pack and deliver holiday packages to seniors

Help with weeding, harvesting, watering, and processing. Each volunteer is responsible for bringing their own pair of gardening gloves and face masks. All tools for gardening will be provided by Jacob’s Garden.

Our preference is for individuals who can make a multi-week commitment, though occasionally we also need volunteers for specific events and projects.

During this pandemic masked and gloved volunteers work during the Pantry’s food distribution hours moving produce, meat in coolers, milk and pre-filled grocery bags outside onto tables under a shelter.
